Wished it was busier today. Low Sales - but the weather was nice, but not many people on main street. I made some affordable Verdi Easter (or any occasion) Goody Bags. Not much to report.
I don't have a working phone at the moment. We got rid of our land line years ago. I'm off to the Apple store tonight to see if it's savable. I'll be back at noon tomorrow!

April 2nd 2011

Nice day and lots of people out although most just came to taste and did not buy. Sales were a total 1054.83, not bad but not the best. 
Do NOT use the shrinkwrap gun. There was smoke coming out of it as I was trying to shrinkwrap a basket. We desperetaly need a new one since the other gun had the same problem a little less than a year ago. I wonder if those can be purchased at hobby lobby? That would probably be the fastest way.

Not too busy for a beautiful day-sales $617. Brought most of the wedding items down stairs. Dusted and re-shrunk the baskets. Chris took some labeled wines down to the Irish shop. Sold some wine.

We have received new fabric lined baskets today. I've put a few in the kitchen and the remainer in the basement. The hanging bottle tea lights have arrived also and they are all on display.

Tammy has fixed the outgoing messages in outlook. Please delete or add important emails to the file labeled Tammy. This will ease confusion as to whether or not the email was taken care of. If it's something important print it out or mark it as unread for the following person to view.

Crazy but I had most foot traffic after 4pm. Some event must have ended.

Please keep blogs professional and respectful. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Let's work as team and keep the peace.

March 30 2011

Lots of things fixed today!!!! Worked on cleaning up our quickbooks departments and I printed a list of all of the departments with a description as to which items belong in what department and also highlighted the departments that have been/will be cleaned up and made more specific (i have gotten through dep 1, which is now 7 pages shorter, next is department #7).  The list can be found by the telephone. If you could please review this and make sure to receive itmes into the correct departments that would be fantastic.

Label for Kim Graf:  this was very extensive and time consuming.  I had to spend a lot of time formatting and emailing/phoning the lady until we finally came to an agreement as to what the label should look like. I spent two hours on this alone, and went through several labels before it looked right.  She wants to pick up the bottle thursday the 31st, she has not yet paid, and Tammy would like to charge her $10 for the label since it was so extensive. I dont know if Chris quoted her $5 when she took the order, but if she has any questions just explain to the lady that we charge extra for "extra" customized labels, as well as color.

I read the communication log, thanks for keeping us posted. All in all it was not busy, its 4:30pm and we have made a total of $72.30 for the day. I however kept myself busy with the above mentioned tasks which are long from being done.

Hola!

Today was a ghost town on Main Street. As requested. . . The customer custom order information is entered in POS. Per Tammy. . . I brought down most Wedding Baskets, all the acrylic flutes & wine cups. Displayed the "cake by Elaine" with the wedding supplies/baskets/glasses. Feel free to make changes. Elaine stopped by, but she likes where the cake is displayed so she said we can keep it as long as we want it! I made Cardinal Baseball labels & a display of Cardinal Red items as you walk into the store. Opening Day is Thursday & to many baseball fans - that should be a National Holiday =) I spoke with a lady name Kim. She is emailing a picture for a custom label to be made by Friday. I told her that us enough time. I did not receive the email & left her a vm - letting her know I would inform Sarah this should be coming our way. Yesterday I spoke with Nicole at "Thistle & Clover." they are making us a carved wine box to be displayed in the wine shop. They are going to display our a few custom wine labels & bottles so we can refer & receive referrals! Finally, David took a few baskets, corks, Easter wine bottle from the window to an event today. He will be returning these items.

Monday 03/27/11

Fellow Wino's,

Please continue to read and write in the communication log in addition to this blog. All UPS orders must have the measurements and the weight on our order forms. You can also plug in the measurements in UPS worldship. Please read through the UPS measurement guide. One is on the dry erase board and the other is on the fridge in the kitchen. Any questions please ask me.

We are out of bottled water and Tammy will bring some in. I will not place a coke order yet.

We received inventory from Epi - no packing slip. I desplayed the wire cork barrel next to the Bottle stoppers. There are 3 more in boxes under the table that has the silver wedding basket sitting on it. Since there are new items - I didn't know what to charge without a packing slip w/ prices. Maybe Tammy has it? It stayed steady. I dont know about you ladies. . . but I'm done with this chilly weather!! Bring back warm temps!! Have a Nice Weekend. I will be outve town Saturday and Sunday.

The custom label & wine for Tammy's friend is complete. It is the one with the prego lady with brown & pink curly ribbon.

March 23rd #2

Alright,  some food came in today, its all priced and displayed. Feel free to rearrange and make it look prettier. Also, we got wine in today, and I received a total of 9 cases, one of which is the Montelle Blackberry. It's supposed to be for the restaurant, but there were three cases and we are completely out of blackberry, so until we get more Augusta Wine in, the Montelle will have to do.

Good Morning,
just a couple things. I spent some time working on organizing our quickbooks departments on saturday, all decorative stoppers are now found in department # 30, so if you receive some new ones, please organize them into that department instead of department #1.  I hope to clean up more of the departments as I spend more time going through every single item in order to move forward with putting all of our items on the new website. Please stay posted for changes, they should not be huge new things, but they will hopefully make things easier and give everyone more oversight. There are several items that are in our system more than once, some even twice, talk about confusion!
With that said, speaking of Saturday, we did in fact have NO one checking out the upstairs, and yes people are nutso, I have had people serve themselves samples on more than one occasion. The stroller thing is starting to be a problem again and people are ignoring the NO Stroller sign.

March 19th Saturday

What a busy day! There has to be a full moon today because some people were out of control! While i was checking out a customer - i returned to the wine bar to find a lady helping herself to the Claret! The nerve of some people!!! And the strollers - oversized & obnoxious! We did over $1300 in sales. Almost right at 6pm. . . A couple from Oklahoma bought six strawberry & six blueberry. We have 2 blueberrys left & none in the wine shed. A favorite combination was Raspberry Verdi & blueberry wine. I changed the Irish Label in the window to an Easter label with pastel curly ribbon. I don't believe we had anyone show up for the bridal display. I'm not sure though - I was giving samples during the afternoon. Have a Freat Sunday & see y'all soon!

Tuesday March 15th

Today started with the 1st delivery of the day. 8 boxes of jarred jalapeƱos, preserves, jelly, olives, asparagus & salsa. I received, priced, displayed & stored the remaining inventory in the kitchen.
I changed the display where we keep the dip coolers, dips, pasta & salsa. During the mean time. . . We had a few people in the shop - which prolongs completing what is already started. 6 boxes of pretzels arrived. Those are all sticker priced, displayed, remaining inventory stored in kitchen & all has been received. Please feel free to make changes, as I was exhausted when it came to displaying the pretzels. I'm sure a fresh set of eyes can think of a better display. I received 2 inventories today. One from Imperial - the other from East Shore(?). I REALLY hope I did the receiving correctly this time. Have a great rest of the week. I did not get to the Wood Bridge labels.

Tuesday March 8th

Today was busy with new inventory, displays & I changed the front south window to include the green & purple acrylic glasses, new iceless ice wine chiller, new green candle & bottle stopper. There are candles under the selves by the bottle toppers that need price stickers. There are also acrylic glasses, iceless wine chillers & acrylic grape plates that need price stickers - in the kitchen. I put acrylic margarita, wine & flutes on the 2nd & 3rd shelve in the basement. I arranged the acrylic glasses on selves next to the checkout counter. Merlot candles are priced & next to the wedding inventory & 2 are displayed in the window. I wrote all of this in the "communication log." I had hoped to complete the pricing on inventory & all the receiving but was called by my father. My mom is now at BJC emergency room for chest pains - so hopefully one of these times when I work I can complete the inventory from start to finish. . . CORRECTLY!!! I will (most likely) be by in a day it so to pick up "Quality Inn" display which I put in the kitchen. If anyone wants to put them on a box - that would be great and it won't be in the way. Im sure if I'm forgetting anything - it will come to me later and I'll follow up. Did I say that I did not receive any inventory? I did not, but I truly understand it. Have a Great Wednesday everybody =)

March 7 2011

Today was pretty slow, nobody in until around 2pm. I have downloaded and saved a lot of product photos for Julie Eudy. I am not sure if these need to be put into a word document with descriptions, but they are saved on the desktop in the WEBSITE folder. For some of the items I was unable to find photos, am I going to need to take photos of these? Do we want to have every single item that we carry on the website or just a few main ones?  Also we still need to finish the hotel baskets. In order for me to photograph them they should not be shrink wrapped, however the items DO need to be in a basket or a box, one that preferably is not wedding-ish. Chris, since you have taken the hotel basket responsibilty upon yourself I will leave it up to you to complete these. I dont know exactly what you had in mind concerning different baskets for different hotels, are they all going to be different?  I will be in tomorrow by noon to photograph the baskets, so please have them done before then. After that I am heading to the caverns to document the pressing of the blueberry wine.
What does the upstairs room need in order to be ready for Saturdays open house? I have some time before friday to help with any preparations but am not available friday or saturday as I am photographing a fundraising event for Womens History Month.

March 2nd, 2011

There have been many people walking on Main Street and a lot came into the shop, but I couldn't get some to taste wine and sales were LOW :( I think most were taking lunch break to soak up the sun. I worked on finishing up the hotel baskets for pictures to go on a brochure for the Country Inn & Suites and Quality Inn. I did labels for the "water" wine bottles for the display at The Quality Inn & Suites. I also researched other hotel packages and their verbage. After I hear back from Trent Greenly at The Country Inn & Suites... we will know how he wants to proceed with the purchases of the packages. I need for Trent to let us know if the packages will be incorporated with the room rate or a completely separate purchase. Whatever his decision... we will be ready to take the next step in our relationship with The Country Inn & Suites and incorporate the use of internet websites and links.

Then I would like to proceed with Ameristar & Embassy Suites. I'm brainstorming for different basket ideas, as we do not want all the hotels in a mile radius to have the same packages. They should all be unique - but with the same concept. Make sense? This way every hotel relationship caters to the specific needs of the guest. ***Ideas & Creative Thinking is Welcome!!!

March 1st, 2011

February is over and spring will soon be here, it sure feels like it today!  The day has been going smooth, not much business but a few bodies are roaming the streets.  I priced and received the order of wedding goods that came in from Epic. Tammy met with the CBK lady this morning and has put in orders for several new things that should arrive soon. She also ordered items for the holidays that wont be shipped until July. 
These purchase orders can be found with the other filing stuff, its the folder in the very front. I am in the process of creating PO's (purchase orders) in quickbooks in order to speed up the receiving process when these items arrive, I attached a sheet that explains the procedures for receiving items from a PO.

I have also started a new department that is for bottle stoppers (decorative) only. The department number is 30.  This does not include functional stoppers or pourers like the ones found on the back room accessory wall.

Gloomy, rainy day and I have only sold 2 foil cutters for a whopping total of $8.57. I've made a few baskets for the hotel displays and finished the wine inventory.

We will sell the Hermannhof Vidal Blanc for $12.99. Maybe we can sample this over the weekend. When we run out of Mon Fils let's open a Friendship School Red in its place.

I had walked into some shops on Tuesday looking for wedding open house items. Many stores were closed and many did not have wedding items. Halo candles may bring some custom candles and center pieces and Thistle and Clover had some unique Irish wedding items but I will have to follow up because the owner was not in.

Camille has already gathered support for our Bridal Open Houses from Hearts and Roses and Cakes by Elaine, Thank you Camille.
